Kelli Smith

Event Nursing Consultant

Kelli is a Registered Nurse with over 20 years of clinical experience. Currently she works in Emergency at Royal Columbian Hospital and Obstetrics at BC Women’s Hospital, with an occasional shift in the local jail. Kelli is always keen to learn more about her areas of interest, and is often looking for her next challenge.

Her first adventure on a medical team was as at the epic Pemberton Music Festival in 2008. She was so impressed by the enthusiasm of the team members, the interdisciplinary care and teaching, the controlled chaos, that she knew right away she wanted to continue being involved with the Mass Gathering Medicine World. Kelli has had the privilege of working with multiple event medical companies, and works on the medical teams for dozens of major concert and sporting events every year. The 2010 Olympics gave her the opportunity to be involved with event medicine on an international level.

Kelli has been Charge Nurse for many years, and since 2018, has served as Event Medical Director. She brings a rich history of event experience, and is always happy to assist with any bedside or administrative scenarios. She also strives to maintain the medical tent as a safe and accepting space for staff and patients. Kelli is proud to support the multi-disciplinary team approach at Odyssey, one that welcomes learners to experts, and values personal growth as much as professional development.

The interesting cases in crazy environments that we attend provide the kind of teaching and learning that cannot be attained in a hospital setting. However, it’s the amazing people you meet on event, that are quick to become mentors and friends, that keep her coming back.
