Stephen Chui | Legal & Compliance

Stephen (aka Gadget) is Odyssey’s Legal and Compliance Advisor. Stephen’s primary role at Odyssey concerns with all things legal – contracts, privacy, and regulatory compliance. He is also one of the crew coordinators for various Major Planned Events (MPEs) in British Columbia and Alberta.

“My first brush with medical team coordination took place at the 2008 Pemberton Festival. Over the next few years, I navigated through some interesting/challenging territories through trial-by-fire before pivoting into the legal world.

I have been with Odyssey since 2015. I have the privilege of working with teams of exceptional crew members who bring different perspectives, skills, and knowledge to our events – and I always walk away learning something new. I have also come to really appreciate what the public see at events/shows (‘front of house’) represents a very small fraction of the behind-the-scenes hard work that went on for months.”

Stephen holds a Master of Arts degree. Outside of his professional life, he is an avid volunteer with agencies of the 3 levels of government, as well as non-profit agencies. Besides being a legal ninja, Stephen also has a background in Emergency Management.

Stephen had the privilege and experience in medical team coordination at some of the most logistically complex events of British Columbia such as the 2009 World Police and Fire Games and the XXI Olympic Winter Games (“Vancouver 2010”).
